Did Manifestation Or Santa Bring Me A Korg SQ-1 For Christmas?

It’s spaghetti and sequences for dinner tonight.

So I Wrote That Last Post About Last-minute Xmas Gifts I'd Like... And A wild Korg SQ-1 appeared!

These days, these wild, wild, WILD days, there seems to be a TikTok video about manifestation sandwiched neatly in between every other video of someone telling you how they made $20,000 in a couple of minutes with print on demand and a faceless AI-generated video telling the tale of a major historical find that is in fact not history, but, a fictional AI-generated fever dream.

These things are fun to watch, as long as you still can tell the difference between entertainment and reality. It helps to be able to spot the scams and people that would take advantage of you out there in the wild too.

Sometimes though, you really do make decisions and movements in real life that seem to bring your desired outcomes to reality.

In the last piece I wrote, Super Last Minute Gifts I'd Want As A Music Producer & Modular Synth Lover - Pt. 2, I mentioned Korg’s SQ-1 Sequencer in the MIDI Controllers & Sequencers section. Now through the awesome powers of manifestation (or more likely supportive family members checking out my post) the SQ-1 was gifted to me this Christmas! I also received a package of six 48” Modbang cables in the very sweet Primrose Glow color!

That was just what I needed to get it all connected. Stoked. Seriously stoked about this. Thank you to the two Santas who delivered this one, you know who you are!

It’s a solid little device that was heftier and more solid feeling than I expected. It was simple to set up and get going. It easily plugged into my MacBook Pro via a USB type B cable and was instantly recognized by Logic Pro.

Then I set the CV out of the SQ-1 to my current go-to oscillator, the 4ms Ensemble Oscillator. After that it was having a fun exploration of this new sequencer while rediscovering what I could do with Ensemble Oscillator.

I have to say, without reading the manual yet, it was a lot of fun to dive straight into. I got into a satisfying sequence right away. I’m certain I’ll be using this a lot on future projects because it’s enjoyable to play.

If you’ve got the SQ-1 or are planning on getting one and would like to read the manual, you can find it here at Korg’s SQ-1 Manual download page.

Thanks for reading this. Say hi on the socials if you see me. Stay rad, stay creative, and keep making your art!

Hey, would you mind doing me a favor? Share this post. Pin it on Pinterest, or send it to the person you were buying a last minute gift for. They might want to read it. That would be so appreciated! Thanks.
